From: tobert
Message: hi, zippy. just wondering why did you chomp your toy bus? what do you think of garfield?
Monday, December 31, 2007 at 8:47 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Chomping is quite fun. It can be unsatisfying when a toy breaks because of a chomp, but the process of the chomp itself is just too enjoyable to pass up. Garfield is a cat, so I think that one is self-explanatory.

Message: hiya, zippy! been a while since we’ve posted here, and we have a lot to update on! =33 well, first off, i’ve updated the kennel a lot, so go check out my kennel on fp on the url below! =) also, gus is fully potty-trained now! he is also 10 months old. 4 months ago, i posted on here saying he was a stupid pug, etc. now, he knows sit, lay down, stay, spin, paw, and speak! (which was a very bad idea by the way, don’t ever learn it.) so what’s up with you? anything new?

Message: hey zippy! here’s a funny joke to play on your two-leggers if you live somewhere where you get snow. sit by the door and bark, whine, ring your bell or whatever you do to say you need to go outside to do your business. then, after they get all their gear on (what is up with that? let’s just go out already!), head outside, run around in the snow, eat some frozen rabbit jellybeans, then head back to the door to go in. as soon as you get inside, run over to where they keep the treats and look adorable. it’s a laff riot! the two-leggers love it! well, they would if they had any sense of humor....

Message: hey zippy, hope you are well, i have been enjoying the snow here in wisconsin but i hurt my back somehow and had to go to the vet. i rather liked the pain shot. i’m all better now. but here’s the thing, i have a little mustache which my folks say is a charlie chan mustache, or hitler, depending on what day it is. is this common for corgis orjust another thing for my family to tease me about. i am a sable corgi, a dog of many colors. including a mustache. love you zippy, izzy

(this is not swearing)
Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 12:15 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Merry Christmas to you too! We don’t have any kid-toys, just dog toys. If we want to harrass small children, we just go to the park. We are very protective of our family. If anyone comes too near, we just lick their ankles until they go away.

From: izzy

Message: hey zippy, when i got up this morning i had this situation with my pants that i suppose would be the equivalant of human bed head. so of course my folks, who are way too easily amused, made much fun of my pants and my brother teased me, too. of course no one could bother to pick up a brush and straighten me out, it was too much fun to laugh at. do you ever have this happen? also at 13 months i am only 25 pounds and have heard some comments floating around my house like “corgi growth hormone”, do you think i will grow anymore? love, izzy
Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:51 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Oh yes, pants in need of hair gel. Quite the amusement to my folks too. And unless you plan on taking up Sumo wrestling, 25 pounds is a fine weight for a Corgi. I must have had a good dose of that “corgi growth hormone,” because at your age I was quite fat. My folks helped me get it off eventually, but it is easier to be svelte than to try to get svelte.

Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 1:18 am, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Yes, I have always been quite secretive concerning my age. I think it adds an air of mystery, don’t you? Or I can’t be bothered to remember. Daisy has it easy—we really don’t know how old she is! Anyway, happy pre-birthday to you, Sophie May!

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 3:04 pm, Pacific Time

Message: hi zippy, me again... i was so excited the first time i wrote i forgot to properly introduce myself. i’m a 2 year old tri colored corgi. i’m a fluffy so my original parents didn’t want me. they were show dog people and felt my fluffiness was a birth defect. i was sad at first but about a yr and a half ago i met my new family and now every day is my happiest day. they think my fluffiness is my best feature, i do get complimented on it a lot... i have a little mini sheltie friend named reilly. he’s fluffy too so i don’t feel out of place here at all. my parents want me to tell you... after some more searching they found the journal entry for the bus costume. i must have missed that the first time around... they were very excited and i am too. i think it’ll be more fitting than my pumpkin costume from last year... and between you and me, i think i’d rather be a bus than a hot dog... thanks!

Message: hi zippy and co. as i’m sure you’ve heard before, you’re very cute. <3 but on to the point! i want a corgi. no, wait. i need a corgi. but here’s the problem: my mother says no. (for reference, i am 14 years old and female.) i am very responsible, but she just isn’t up to the idea of a dog. she doesn’t understand, i guess... you just haven’t lived until you’ve owned a dog, or at least my grandfather said. your site kind of tides me over, but it isn’t enough. trust me, i covered everything possible about how i would care for the dog when attempting to discuss it with my mom, but she just gets angry. she said that it will be a year or more before she would know if she would be okay with having one. huh? i just don’t know what to do to cope! any advice?
Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 7:48 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Erin, you sound very mature and responsible for your age. I am proud of you for that. But mom still rules at your house. It could be that she thinks you could take care of a dog just fine, but that a dog just isn't right for the household right now. In the meantime, keep the lines of communication open. I bet you will have many loving dogs throughout your lifetime!

Message: zippy, your buddies in n. ms, arlo (pemborke) and charles (human) were just checking on you. for the last several months you haven’t been very active in your journal and wanted to make sure you were o.k.. i “talked” with one of your people about a year ago and was surprised to find out you were quite a senior-pup. i know as we all get older, arthritis can be an issue and it may be more difficult to get to the computer. maybe you can get daisy or your people to help out? i just finishged re-reading your journal and enjoyed it as mush as the first time. maybe dog-toast would help? could’nt hurt huh? wags, snorts and whooping around from down south, arlo and charles

Zippy responds: Oh, hey, Dog Toast. Yeah. That is a good motivator. I will have to mention that to my people. And, yes, laziness is the order of the day, I will have to see what I can do about that. After the Dog Toast.

Message: hi again zippy! boy, oh boy! did i hit paydirt yesterday. my two-leggers had a neighborhood picnic in the backyard. the guests included a baby who dribbled some yummy formula down her chin and two- and four-year olds who were working on ice cream cones in the nearly 90 degree heat. i naturally had to help clean them up since they just couldn’t keep up with the drips. i love having company! thank goodness i found some sociable two-leggers!

Message: hi zippy! i had a great day today, even though it started out lousy. my two-leggers were going to be gone all day and i thought i’d have to be locked up in the house all by myself. luckily, they called their friend who came over to walk me and feed me, and then ----surprise! --- she took me over to her house to play with her dog! i got to run around the yard and play with not only her dog but her teenage son and his friend, too. it was great! i must have done something good to deserve this. since i’m a corgi, though, it’s hard to pick just one good thing i did. i do so many; i’m sure you do too. hope you had a great day like i did. bye!

Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 1:16 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Well, sometimes we like to snort and sneeze even if we haven't done anything fun like swimming or rolling around. You should ask your vet the next time you go in for a checkup, though.

Message: hi zippy! i am gus, brenna’s 6 month old pug. i turned 6 months today! :) anyways, is being a corgi fun? i’m a pug, its not too good. i have that smashed in face causes-me-to-breath-and-snort-and-shnarf-etc....thing/problem, and i have to get baths 3-4 times a day because i apparently can’t get the word potty-train though my thick skully head. i am called dumbbutt, you pooped in the cage again? a lot of times during the day, and, don’t eat that, noooo!, bad boy gussybutt, nono go tear up carpet, see all the fluff there? all day long. i have waaay more, figured that was enough. i’m not necessarily the smartest pug in the world. i am going to the puppy grooming make me look nice place (aka petsmart) soon for dog training. hopefully it works out! okay, well, i have smashed most of the typing keys down to the point where the won’t come up, so, i’ll talk to ya later, bye!

Message: hey zippy! i have to write this quick, while my folks are out...my mom says i get too excited when i type, and that i have an unfortunate tendancy to mash all the keys with my paws, and some of them get stuck. i just wanted to say i am a big fan. there should be more corgis in the spotlight, because, as all the world knows, we are the pinnacle of pup-perfection. everyone should know about the glory of the corgi, and with fine ambassadors like yourself, the word will spread more every day, and soon, the world will be ours! ha! no cats, no cats, lalalala! wait....in the yard...i hear something! i have to run off and bark at whatever it is, lest it forget it’s place. anyway, zippy, keep up the good work! bark barkity bark bark...

Message: hi zippy! i just had a great visit from a five year old two-legger who is a a very messy eater. i love him! plus, he was a quick study at learning the fine art of belly rubbing. i think i will invite him over again for another visit soon. serving ice cream will be a must --- he seemed to have a hard time getting all of it into his mouth so, being the thoughtful and caring corgi that i am, i helped him clean up. it’s the least i could do. do you ever get to help children this way?
Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 8:19 pm, Pacific Time

Zippy responds: Oh, yes, but you do realize that the larger two-leggers will eventually make an attempt to “help” the smaller two-legger become neater. You would be doing dogdom a great service if you could convince them to delay that effort for as long as possible.
